10 Facts About 'Carry You Home'

10 Facts About 'Carry You Home'

Here are 10 facts you probably didn't know about our 2009 Christmas classic:

  1. In order to get inspiration for the lyrics, the group got tipsy together and created a ‘mood board’ of Christmas sentiments.  One of us ended up being sick in a bin.
  2. The distinctive intro/riff was played by Bernard on a Tanglewood ¾ sized guitar which has never been used on a Hotpots track since.
  3. Dickie does not appear on the record, he was on holiday at the time.
  4. Carry You Home was the first Hotpots song to be produced by John Kettle, a relationship that continues to this very day.
  5. Unbeknownst to all of us at the time, John’s missus Virginia appears as the mum in the video.  What were the chances of that!
  6. The video was directed by Dave Mills who did the Emo video and was shot on a Red One camera, the same cameras used to shoot District 9!
  7. Carry You Home was the only CD single the band ever released.
  8. The video is one of our favourites because we only turned up right at the end and had to do very little.
  9. Kenny makes a cameo in the video.  Is this the first time someone has been in a video before being in the band?
  10. This is the first appearance of the Hotpots in a video without our Hotpots stage gear. A more reverent look was needed to match the tone of the song.
